Submission or Repression?

What does submission mean? Several dictionaries, in so many words, define submission as "the action or fact of accepting or yielding to a superior force or to the will or authority of another person." Submitting means putting others before yourself; it means not always doing what you want to do. It means putting God's desires above your desires.

When men and women speak of “Submission”, their definitions or interpretations are different in many ways. Some men believe that women are to agree and/or go along with what they say and do, without quarrel - he is the head of the relationship or household, and his word is law. Some women, on the other hand, feel that with “submission” comes repression - not having a voice or opinion, and not being allowed in the decision process of the relationship or marriage.

What is your definition of “submission”?

Sharing our bedroom secrets

When in a fantastic relationship, we want to shout it to the rooftop and to the world that the man or woman you are with is everything and more. He or she is loving, caring, attentive and so much more. Hell, that person curls your toes in the bedroom!
Well, before you or your mate start shouting to the roof-top for your friends and the world to hear, you both may want to muffle your excitement.
Every woman wishes for a man who takes his time between the sheets. No woman wants a one-minute man who will rush, come quickly and leave her high and dry. Every man wants a woman who has something worth his time between the sheets!

On the other hand, what if you’re NOT satisfied in bed with your partner, and either of you are discussing this with your friends? It may come across, as if you are ready to move on to bigger and brighter things in the bedroom, and involving that friend into your relationship deception and infidelity.

Why judge me for my past?

You’ve heard people say, “Why are you bringing up the past?”

Everyday, in our walk of life we learn more and more of the people in our circle of friends, and even family. We learn more of their indiscretions - the good, the bad and ugly.
During the course of our relationships and even learning things when forming new ones, we tend to think differently about others if we learn things of their past (jail/prison, drug abuse, alcoholism, infidelity, etc.). No matter what that person’s past looks like, there will be some level of judgement, right? Or is the past the past, and be left not to be addressed?
Should someone’s past be used against them? Or can their past be considered a pattern that poses as a warning sign?

Depression: The Silent Illness

Depression has been often described as carrying a very heavy burden. Millions of Americans suffer from some form of depression every year, making it one of the most common mental disorders in the country.

Depression is more than just feeling sad. Everyone feels upset or unmotivated from time to time, but depression is a lot more serious. It is a mood disorder characterized by prolonged feelings of sadness and loss of interest in daily activities. If these symptoms remain for at least two weeks, it is considered a depressive episode.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), in 2017, an estimated 17.3 million adults in the United States reported having at least one major depressive episode in the previous 12 months. That’s 7.1% of all US adults ages 18 and older. Adult females have a higher prevalence of experiencing a major depressive episode than their male counterparts—8.7% compared to 5.3% in adult males. Depression in the adolescent population (ages 12 to 17) has also increased. An estimated 3.2 million adolescents had at least one major depressive episode—a number that represents 13.3% of the adolescent population.

Looking for the whole package"

Last week HTTR-TV, the discussion went from the topic of know when you’ve found the perfect mate and when it’s time to pop the question to women who settle - for a man who may not be the “ONE”.

What does it mean for a woman to settle? Is she putting up with things from a man who is not a provider? One who is not financially secure? One who does not quite live up to the standards that she herself displays or embodies.

What is it that women would consider to be the “whole package”?
